There's no way around it: Miss Moo is such a good girl. She's goofy yet well behaved, entertaining yet not overbearing, and social yet not an energetic space cadet. She has continued to blossom herself and is earning more freedom. Nick and I have been throwing the idea of leaving her uncrated while we leave the house for a week or so. We decided to give it a go on Friday night while we were at barn bash with the 56ers. She was left alone for 5 hours (a bit longer than originally anticipated.) We came home and she hopped off the couch a happy little girl. Nothing disturbed or touched, no pee, just a happy Miss Moo.
So Sunday we did the same thing while we went to church. We closed the doors to the bedroom and bathroom, tucked the trash in the bathroom, gave her a tasty kong and off we went. Upon return, again, a house fully together and a happy Molly hopping off the couch to greet us.
We thought we might take this process a little slower than it's been going, but we tried a full work day to see how she would do. Perfect, beautiful, not an issue. Apparently she went to get her kong and then realized she really had to pee so she bolted to the door where she was promptly taken out. Looks like she may not need to be crated during her golden years here with us.
We made a spontaneous trip to Don and Twyla's in MD on saturday and of course Molly came with us. She was a really good girl and aside from trying to get all Maddie's bones into her possession she was a model citizen. We did keep a leash on her just in case she decided she didn't like Maddie, but by the end of the visit she was walking past Maddie without any hint of issue.
It's really tough having such a well behaved dog... : ) now if we could just keep her from pawing up at the dinner table. That is one behavior that I don't tolerate. But all in all, easy easy little lady : )

Tink's Vacation at Gram and Pap Rowe's
While Nick and I were in sunny Florida for Larry and Katie's wedding,
Tink was living it up with Gram and Pap in Maryland.
Tink was living it up with Gram and Pap in Maryland.

Tink slept in a heated water bed on comfy flannel sheets.
She also had a cookie before she went to bed and after she settled in upstairs!!

Tink traveled to Twyla's office each day (she couldn't stay at home of course!)

She also made sure the floor wasn't drafty

Yup, that sermon looks great Gram!

Christmas Pictures
Courtesy of Twyla, we have some Christmas pictures. We started at Zach and Liz's last Saturday for some family time.

My little book rest. I received a reproduction copy of the 1926
"The Boston Terrier" by E.J. Rousuck---I'm so excited! (Tink
obviously did not share my enthusiasm)

Cute baby Owen!
all snuggled up and warm--do not disturb!
Tink received homemade gifts from us this year--- 2 new coats, a crate cover, liver treats and a clean bill of health from the vet (ok so that one wasn't homemade, but still.) She had received so many gifts from friends and we are soooo grateful. We will post pictures of Cheri and Brandy's generous Christmas gift soon!
We're currently getting ready for the last Christmas expedition with the entire Rowe family on new years day. Then Tink is having a 5 day sleep over with her Gram, Pap and Maddie while Nick and I travel to Florida for my brothers and Katie's wedding--it's coming so soon!

Thank you
Thank you all who have posted comments of support and who have been a part of Tink's life either with us or at SDR. The amount of support that we as a family is given never ceases to amaze me. I am still amazed at the number of SDR volunteers who check and see what Miss Tink is up to on a regular basis. You guys are awesome; with all that you do for so many dogs, you still have time to read up on Miss Tink and her antics.
We're really excited that we passed the test yesterday. We still have several more steps to complete before we're officially official. Tink has to have a vet check and I have lots of paperwork to fill out and send in to Delta in one big packet. We have 3 months to complete!
Now, none of this is official, but we're looking at starting with a local nursing home where other pet partners go, so we could get a general feel of what we're supposed to be doing and to get more comfortable with our "job." I also have a phone call out for an integrated preschool classroom that has kids with visual impairments in the class. The lady i spoke with on the phone was very interested. Now if i can get my schedule to work out, that would be great!
It's been ridiculously hot over here and Tink and Nick and I have been enjoying the A/C to the fullest. I've been experimenting with the sewing machine and sewing some of Tink's small crate towels together to make larger towels. It was quite the experiment tonight. But of course practice makes perfect! We'll be on to bigger and better things soon!
We went down to Tink's Gram and Pap Rowe's fri night into saturday. It was a nice time of relaxing and good company. Twyla took some pictures which i will post as soon as she get's a spare moment to email them. The kiddie pool was out and Tink had many yummy snacks. And of course, she slept in bed with us (2 twins together, equals a huge bed!!) More pics soon.
PS: Tink is invited to another pool party this weekend and we're going! Who knew she would be so popular!!! And her buddy Gabe will be there too!

Christmas Treats

These are the treats that Tinker received from her Gram and Pap Rowe. Tinker thinks they are sooo tasty and I think they are great for her! Thanks Gram and Pap
Christmas with Gram & Pap Rowe
we just came home from visiting with Nick's mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law and unborn baby neice/nephew : ) It was a wonderful time of lots of sharing, FOOD, cookies, and fun antics with the 3 dogs-Maddie, Lucy, and Tinker. All 3 of the girls did well getting along. We kept an extra eye on Lucy & Tinker when food was around--Lucy didn't eat her food but made sure Tinker didn't touch it either. Tink is getting so much better around other dogs overall though-- Maddie's beginning to give her a second chance. Maddie had a "cookie ball" that Tinker loved to push around and get the kibble out of. Guess what we'll be finding for her for her gotcha day on january 21!!! so excited! another toy she likes to play with in the house. All the girls took turns sharing the cookie ball (with supervision of course ; )
Up close--Yes Tinker's hiney is on NICK's pillow ; )
Playing with daddy!
Gram had some of Tink's favorites--snausages. In fact they were snausages fortune snookies. Tinker totally plopped herself in the kitched right next to Maddie and patiently waited. At one point Nick and I were laughing at her and she turned her little head as if to say "what??!?! I want one too!" Such a cutie!
Our Christmas with the Rowe's was saturday morning and what a beautiful morning it was. We all took turns opening gifts and of course the doggies had their turn too : ) Tinker recieved a great box of organic treats with no corn wheat or soy. They're crunchy and peanutbuttery and she sniffed them out all weekend no matter where we put them!
Mom, let me help you with that
Lucy, Zach & Liz's pup, snacking on her gift from gram and pap.
Maddie, the not so little one who wouldn't hurt a fly : )
Tinker and Daddy posing for the camera

Aren't they cute!?!?!
We had a great time spending the weekend relaxing with the family. It was a great weekend and a great way to begin wrapping up our lovely vacation.

My first weekend at the Cabin
Hello everyone, its Tinker. I've decided to run the blog by myself now. Mom and Dad are pretty slow and as a result, i have a few posts that i need to take care of soon!
Let me tell you i had a great weekend in the middle of no where! lots of grass and sleep and walks and food!! we were outside ALL day! it was great! and lots of people to cuddle with me and pet me, it was the life! Dad says its the little town of Hartletown in Mifflinburg County, wherever the heck that is!

Me, Mum, and Alicia on a walk to the creek. I'm leading the way as usual!
i didn't like the water very much at the creek,
but can you see that beautiful shine on my coat?!?!
And me with Anita relaxing of course! I also napped with Nana, Alicia and Liz, although my photographers let me down as there is no proof!
And me with Maddie and Lucy, the other dogs that were there this weekend. We got along ok, but i still prefer my people!
The beginning of a LONG walk that we took, but mom and dad both say that i was a trooper and did a great job!! up and down hills over rocks, moss and sticks! it was super exciting! I came back and curled up next to the camp fire for the rest of the night!

It got kinda warm out so we hung out inside the trailer for a lil bit. I had a nice time relaxing with the kids while mum and dad played cribbage.

We think it's a dung beetle. apparently they only live in africa but this lil guy looks like a beetle rolling a piece of well, dung. so that makes it a dung beetle. Well, he WAS a dung beetle until i stepped on him!

Easter Pt 1:Tinker Meets the Rowe's
So, last sunday (palm sunday) as usual, we went to Nana and Papas for Easter and Lil Tink came along. She had a great time meeting the rest of the family! Although Papa did not appreciate her sitting at the table (ahem, NICK!). She did very well meeting and wanting to meet and say hi to lots of other people! It was great to see. She wasn't very fond of Maddie (Nick's parents Lab) sniffing right at her face, but aside from 2 snaps (neither connected with Maddie), she was fine. Each dog held their distance although Maddie just wanted to play. Tinker apologizes to Maddie for her rather rude behavior and promises to be better next time (see part 2 : Tinker goes to MA).
Tinker also learned that she enjoys Nana's Chex Mix a lot when I tried to save a handful from falling on the floor... I put the handful right in front of Tink and she didn't hesitate for one second!
