Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow...

...Unless your name is Tinker, then you're singing, "let it melt, let it melt, let it melt!" I dropped her into what was the backyard until a few inches of snow came through and she acted like she was shot out of a cannon! I was thinking things through though as we were walking this evening and I wonder if, in addition to hating the wet and cold, Tink hates the snow because it takes all the smells and her landmarks away. She walks around a little more "confused" or blank, but is just because she's annoyed or if she really can't tell where she is because a new blanket has covered them. Who knows? Just something to consider...

I was also reminiscing the first winter we brought Tink home (3 years ago!) She did not let us know she hated the snow so vehemently that first year. I recall wandering around the greenland apartments in the cold and she appeared to enjoy the smells and the excerise in a new world that lay before her. Now a 3 short years later, she appears to prefer the couch or being the resident dishwasher (which by the way, saves us much soaking time on pans! She spent a good 20 minutes cleaning out the hamburger/cheese/pasta concoction we had this evening- she was determined to get it all!)

We do our best to make sure she gets moving a few times a day outside, but in this weather, even our best intentions fall short. We figure that taking her out to go potty and then having her walk up the stairs is at least a start in this weather! All in all, she remains pretty happy and healthy. I was just admiring her shiny coat this evening as she was standing in the frying pan licking it out : )

Oh it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Bark! The Hairy Angels Sing

Interesting song found in Readers Digest

By: Lanore Skenazy
To the tune: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

"Bark!" the Labradoodles sing.
"Look at us, the latest thing.
Curly hair and tempers mild
Big and small dog reconciled."
"Don't forget us!" call the puggles.
Sharkies yap, "We're best for snuggles."
"Wait a sec!" the mutts proclaim
"Neath our fur, we're all the same.
Hark! Tho' wondrous breeds abound,
Don't forsake the local pound."

Tink's tip of a lifetime:
Save a life~ adopt a pet from your local humane league or breed specific rescue. A little love, trust, and family go a long way!

Now that's Italian!

Nick and I always love watching Tink chomp down a piece of spaghetti, I thought we'd share our joy with you!

(This is our first attempt at video with our new webcam!)

Don't tell her she's not Italian! Her Granna would be proud!

Tinker has a new bed!

So long story short-- Tink killed her beautiful snuggle ball by constantly nesting on it for 2 years. Ripped the inside to shreds (not to mention pee-stinky!) I found some 5" foam on freecycle and made a new bed for her--- an orthopedic one nonetheless. Do you recognize the fabric? It's nothing fancy, but it certainly does the trick!

there's a pad under the cover that's water proof
so if she pees the foam is protected.

How the bed normally looks with all her blankets on it

some stink eye on the couch

I'll have to get some pics of her on the bed for a size comparison.
It's amazing how God provides the resources even for things like a new bed for Tinker!

Kiwi

This little cutie is one that one rescued from a mill situation mid October. We had the priviledge of helping to transport and hold on to her for a few hours before her final leg to her foster mom further north in PA.

Isn't Kiwi beautiful?

She was so timid yet we knew she would learn to trust eventually

It was a warm Sunday afternoon and Kiwi spent some time
laying in the grass enjoying the sunshine while Tiff, Nick and I talked

Picture perfect! Do you have a home and a heart for this little girl?
If so, please visit NEBTR's web page and inquire about her!

Even if you are not able to adopt at this point, check out our website, it's pretty cool!

Way too long!

I can't believe it's been over a month since we've last posted! Must get new pictures up soon!

Tinker had a lovely time visiting her cousins and friends up in MA over Thanksgiving. And her Granna bought her a new kong! Boy did Tink miss it! She took to it right away again, certainly helps when we leave and need to put her in the crate.

Overall Tink is doing very well-- she hates the cold but that's nothing new. She's getting good at getting into bed and staying there the entire night : ) I love my little snuggler!

OK, must go get some pictures to post!
